Hike | Apache Falls | Salt River Canyon — Arizona Hikers Guide

On the opposite side of where you entered you will notice the dirt path continues along the river. Be aware that some drivers will drive further down from the parking lot towards the falls using this path. Continue along the dirt path underneath the bridge. The walk to the falls takes no more than 10 minutes. You will definitely hear the falls before you see them. The rock formations surrounding the falls act as steps and lounge space; perfect for relaxing and enjoying yourself with a beautiful view.

To get to Apache Falls, take the US 60 highway east towards Globe. If you have a flexible schedule, pull over once in a while to truly enjoy the stunning views and picturesque mountains as there is much to see along the drive. Once in Globe, keep left to stay on US 60 highway east. You will stay on this road for another 40 miles. The views along this drive are stunning with plenty of areas to pull off and take photos. Eventually, you will begin descending into the canyon through a handful of switchbacks. Before you cross the bridge, you will see a rest stop to your right. I highly encourage to pull off here to explore this side of the river and take advantage of the only bathrooms for miles.

If you wish to proceed without stopping just know you are very close! Once you cross the bridge take the first left on Primitive Road. For some, this route will be familiar as it’s the same route you take to Cibecue Falls. Once you turn on to this road take the first left; do not proceed straight. The road can be a bit bumpy due to loose rocks and potholes, but it is very manageable. After a couple of feet you will come across an open parking lot. The parking lot overlooks the rushing river and high canyon mountains. Take a moment to appreciate the beauty.
