Event | Wag & Walk Adoption Hike – Arizona Hikers Guide
Come join the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control shelter on Saturday, October 3rd for the 3rd annual Wag & Walk Adoption Hike!
From October through April, the shelter teams up with the Usery Mountain Regional Park in Mesa to help these furry friends find homes. Every Saturday during these months you can find these lovable dogs completing a 1-mile hike up Merkle Trail.
The goal of these events, which started in 2013, is to give dogs a chance to get some fresh air, socialize with other pets and humans, and to encourage people to get outside and hike their county park trails. This is a no-brainer to the Arizona hiking community!
During these Saturday hikes you can expect to see many dogs being walked by potential owners and then meeting up at the trailhead for information and belly rubs! Even if you are not planning on adopting, this is a great opportunity to get outside this weekend, meet some other like-minded people, and give away some free back scratches (for the dogs of course!).
