Casi's Top 10 Essentials – Arizona Hikers Guide
Note: These items are my essentials when I’m hiking with Cameron (whose list contains the much more practical essentials), check out his list first if you are hiking alone or are the most responsible group member.
Keep your skin healthy and your temperature down. Here are my favorites: (sunscreen, moisturizer, chapstick, Outdoor Research Swift Sun Hat
, sunglasses)
Can’t say enough about how awful it is being cold on a backpacking or hiking trip. Layers are key. I do REI base layers, Columbia Women’s Full Zip Fleece and my NorthFace rain jacket as my outer layer.
I’m crazy about staying hydrated but yet I hate the taste of those nasty iodine tabs Cameron brings. There are a few different methods that I use instead and it just depends on the trip. My current favorite is the Sawyer Mini because of how versitle and light it is.
I have a thyroid disease so it’s gluten–free options for me. KIND and LUNA BAR are just two wonderful options.
After a long day of hiking it’s so nice to sit together and play cards, dice, or my favorite Pass the Pigs.
Keeping my long hair tamed in the wild has always been a challenge. However, my UV Half Buff is simply amazing at keeping my hair up and out of my face and eyes (plus they look cute)!
